As a bit of a nail polish queen I looked forward very much to trying Seche's new nail lacquer. I've long been and enthusiastic user of their pretty much unbeatable Seche Vite ultra quick drying top coat and so had great hopes for this new range even though it is a one-coat polish. A term I've long thought oxymoronic.

Sadly, I was left a little disappointed.

The polish applies smoothly and evenly and is certainly a full-coverage effect after only one coat. It dried quickly too leaving, in my shade of ruby-red Iconic, a beautiful and glamorous satin finish. I topped it off with one coat of Seche Vite topcoat.  But while it did look beautiful, the finish did not last too long. A day and a half later and it was lifting at the ends and peeling a little on the sides. It's a common problem with one-coat polishes in my experience. And I don't think that even those clever people at Seche have quite cracked that particular problem.

However, I wouldn't entirely write off this product. Because the coverage is so good, you can patch chips and flakes up very well and fairly easily. And the coverage is so good that, if you are someone who only really polishes their nails at weekends or for an evening out, and who neither needs nor wants it to last beyond a day or so, then this polish is a good buy. At £9.99 it's a little more economical than many professional brands too.

But if, like me, you want a polish that will go on and on, Seche perhaps isn't the brand for you.
